Breathing life into the waterfront: public spaces as only ‘a
place for spectacle’?

Anna Marsden, Head of Development of the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane,
Australia.
Anna Marsden is Head of Development at the Queensland Art Gallery, responsible
for coordinating the Gallery's fundraising and sponsorship programs. Before
joining the Gallery, Anna was the General Manager at the Institute of Modern
Art. She is also on the Board of Eyeline Magazine, Rock n Roll Circus and
Artworkers Alliance and is co-host of ‘Art to Lunch’ the weekly
arts show on radio 4zzz.

Bill Grant, CEO South Bank Corporation, Brisbane, Australia.
Bill has an extensive background in the private and public sectors. Previous
positions held include: CEO Newcastle City Council, Regional Manager CRI:
Indonesia, Retail Sales Marketing Manager: Kitchens of Sara Lee Australia,
CEO Gosford City Council.
Donna Jackson, Artistic Director, writer, performer and theatre maker,
Melbourne, Australia.
Donna Jackson has directed many large-scale, festival and site-specific works
including such fertile ground, Victoria’s Millennium Eve, Bute Utes,
Water Mark, the Moomba River Pageant and Meeting Place, the 2004 Regional
Arts Australia National Conference. In addition she established and directed
the Women’s Circus and has received the Tattersalls Award for enterprises
and achievement, was on the Women’s Honour Roll for the Centenary of
Federation and has recently received a 2 year Fellowship from the Theatre
Board of the Australia Council
Joanna Jordan, Creative Director, Joanna Jordan Special Events, Brisbane,
Australia.
Joanna has spent much of the last 16 years turning ideas into reality. In
the varied roles of Producer, Artistic Director and Event Manager, she has
left her mark on many high profile Queensland events including the 2001 Goodwill
Games Brisbane, the Opening of the Goodwill Bridge, the Brisbane New Years
Eve Millennium Celebrations as well as the Opening Event for this year's
Riverfestival - Suncorp Riverfire. As part of her role for the 2001 Goodwill
Games, Joanna was the Artistic Director and Producer of the Closing Ceremony
and the Project Manager of the Carlton Mid Club, a multi million dollar corporate
hospitality facility built from scratch over the Brisbane River. Joanna and
her team implemented a city wide beautification and pageantry program, the
most advanced city lighting and building projection concept ever staged in
Australia, venue entertainment for 14 sport venues and the very successful
RED . . . paint the town public celebration program. Joanna is the Creative
Director and driving force behind Joanna Jordan Special Events, a Brisbane
based event consultancy.
Matthew Tobin, Founder and director of Urban Art Projects, Brisbane, Australia.
Matthew Tobin is the Queensland Creative Director of Urban Art Projects.
He graduated from QUT in 1991 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts. During his
time at college Matthew studied under artists including William Robinson,
Robert Morris, June Tuppicoff and Robert Moore. While a student, Matthew
worked on the workshop floor of an art and design fabrication form. It was
during this time that he developed a desire to work in the realm of public
art. Since establishing Urban Art Projects, Matthew has been involved in
a number of significant projects including: Sydney International Airport
forecourt, Roma Street Parklands Furniture Mooloolabah International, Anzac
Square Tree, Jupiter’s Corset Chandelier, and QM Properties Water Wall.
