  • Griffin is the medical director and principal investigator of a clinical trials unit where the first human trials of covid19 vaccination were recently undertaken. He has a history of working on vaccine development and have been the principal investigator on over 120 clinical trials, mostly in the area of infectious diseases and mostly in new vaccines. He is also the director of infectious diseases at the Mater where he has an integral role in infection control and all aspects of the management of covid19 patients. He is also a scientific advisory group member and director of the immunisation coalition, a group primarily focused on vaccine advocacy and education. He is an associate professor of medicine with the University of Queensland and a practicing infectious diseases physician and clinical microbiologist.  He has been a regular commentator on issues related to the COVID pandemic.
