  • Mr Cope is the current president of the Queensland Council for Civil Liberties. He has been a member of the executive of that Council since 1990, Vice President from 1999 to 2005 and President from 2005 to 2012 and again from 2014 to the present.

    Mr Cope was a member of the Coordinating Committee of the successful campaign for the introduction in Queensland of a Human Rights Act

    Mr Cope is Special Counsel at Cornwalls specialising in Building and Construction and in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. He is an Advanced Adjudicator under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payments) Act. He has also worked as an in-house lawyer for government.
    He was the former Chair of the Queensland Dairy Tribunal and was a volunteer at the Caxton Legal Centre for some 30 years.
