Mr Sach Jayasinghe

  • Sach Jayasinghe is CEO of the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation, which provides the high-performance services, infrastructure and support required to achieve excellence in computation and data-driven collaborative research and its application in industry. He previously held an adjunct position within QUT in support of research and research infrastructure efforts of the University and its partners. In addition, as Chief Investigator he led the Australian Research Data Commons Platform Project: Australian Digital Observatory, collaborating with colleagues at the University of Melbourne and the University of NSW. of contemporary higher education topics. He is Adjunct Professor (Research Infrastructure) at The University of Queensland, working with partners to uplift Queensland’s research infrastructure and leverage technology capabilities in establishing new industries, such as synthetic biology and clean energy. Jayasinghe has a long history of involvement in cytometry. He had facility leadership roles in the USA (Stowers Institute) and the UK (Imperial College London), developing collaborations with premier researchers in stem and developmental biology, culminating in co-authorship of high-impact publications, including in Nature.
    He is also a co-founder of the Queensland Major Research Infrastructure Alliance, which was established about five years ago to drive key collaborative outcomes such as the state-wide memorandum of understanding for provision of research infrastructure across institutional boundaries.      
    Before joining QUT, Jayasinghe had several roles at the University of Melbourne. On behalf of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), he oversaw strategic investments in research. This included investment in research infrastructure where he developed policies for effective and efficient use of cross-organisational facilities, including careful consideration of the technical expertise that underpin the success of such facilities, embedded in the Melbourne Collaborative Research Infrastructure Program.
