  • Suzanne Thompson provides strong national and worldwide leadership in major First Nations issues that notably include ‘caring for country‘,  ‘sustainable’ and ‘regenerative’ practices and in leading the way in amalgamating approaches such as soil health, biodiversity, ‘cool burning’, carbon farming, cell grazing, and similar.. Suzanne and her organizations achieve this through practical experience on three large rural properties. Her work is directly applicable to both indigenous groups and landholders across Australia. She takes a national leadership role in engaging indigenous groups, technical experts, industry and external stakeholders to develop practical caring for country goals that can encourage continuous improvement of the land and the environment. Suzanne’s cattle property, Turraburra, is a 8,870 ha property in Central Western Queensland and which is owned by her company, YACHATDAC.  She is now engaging with several research agencies which are contributing to a deeper understanding of the relationship between Indigenous culture and land management, ultimately leading to more sustainable and culturally sensitive practices for Turraburra and similar Australian properties.
