Dr Simon Bowler

  • Dr Bowler is a Respiratory and Sleep physician who has been at the Mater since 1985. He is Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at The University of Queensland. Although a professional practitioner, he has published extensively, with an average of 150 citations per year over the past decade and an H-index of 29.
    He trained in Brisbane and the Brompton and has been on the Executive of the TSANZ as well as Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of Asthma Australia and on the Board of that organisation.  
    He founded the Lung Cancer MDT at Mater and was Director of Medicine at Mater for 18 years.  
    He founded Queensland Sleep and is the managing partner.
     
    He was a co-founder of the Mater Respiratory Research Group and has interests in asthma, CF, bronchiectasis and sleep.  
    He is President of The Brisbane Dialogues, with which the Academy has a fruitful relationship and is the organiser of the TBD First Tuesday program which several Fellows have contributed to.
