Professor Bunn is a research professor in the Australian Rivers Institute at Griffith University and was the founding Director until June 2022. His major research interests are in the ecology of river and wetland systems with a particular focus on the science to underpin river management. Stuart has extensive experience working with international and Australian government agencies and with industry on water resource management issues. He is a member of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and has previously served as an Australian National Water Commissioner, the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Panel for the Lake Eyre Basin Ministerial Forum, and as a Director of Land and Water Australia. He was appointed as a member of the Earth Commission, hosted by Future Earth, in 2019 and in 2022 was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
